  • lights not working

my right turn signals dont work all the sudden. the left one (front and back) blink like normal but the right does nothing at all. when the left one is working, it has a clicking sound coming from the right side panel. im guessing that is turning the power on and off to blink, but the right is dead.

i also tried my my brake light and it doesnt work either. the normal running light operates but when the brake is depressed it does not get brighter. im guessing that these two issues are not related, but i have no clue about electrical. any ideas on where to begin?

Check the light bulbs. If you have had the bike less than a year, I would spend the money and just replace ALL the bulbs. This way, you know you should get at least one year with no problem. If you buy the "heavy duty" bulbs, you may get two years or more!

Remove the tank and look for the two connectors in the wires that go to the left side handlebar switches. In one of the connectors, locate the green wire, and the brown wire. If you have a test light or a meter, then probe the green wire when you select right turn at the switch. The green wire should illuminate, if not flash. If you get no power, then just for grins, select left turn, and the brown wire should flash. If that is the case, then the solder connection for the right turn circuit is broken inside the switch itself, and will need to be re-soldered.
The clicking you hear under the left side cover is the flasher working. The flasher feeds power to the T/S switch via the brown wire with the white stripe. The ground wire of the T/S lights is what actually makes the flasher work, so if no power is reaching the R side T/S's then, then the flasher won't heat up internally, and function properly.
