HELLO i am a new owner. xj1100. had it for a week. Has anyone been able to lower the seat at all using less foam and still had any comfort on the butt. if not.....anyone know of anything i can use to seal the cracks in the seat until i recover it. also....does anyone know what the tube in the front of the bike is for that is about midway doown the engine and why it would be leaking small amounts of oil?

    thanks

    i love this bike!!!!!!

The "TUBE" is the cam chain tensioner. There should be a seal in the end of it to keep the oil from leaking. If you go to the main forum page, and scroll down, you will find all the information you will ever need to keep the bike running.
The "search" feature here will allow you to search for information that has already been posted. There are MANY posts about seat height, and fixing the leaky chain tensioner.
Welcome to the site, and remember to READ A LOT BEFORE you try any work. People HAVE had to replace parts because they tried to work on the bike as if it was a Honda, or something!

The cam chain tensioner seal is still available. You may want to get the O-ring too. (see the parts drawing at the website below) I just bought one. You can also cut one out of a piece of rubber and seal it with some permatex. I did that and it never leaked. I buy most of my OEM parts here:

Just hit motorcycle and type in your year and model and you'll see the parts diagrams.
