Tks, there are no wires I don't see any schematic in any of my manuals for a clutch safety switch, I bought a solenoid for a lawn tractor and still the same problem...again when I jump the two terminals with a screw driver all is good....

    Tks
    again.

Have you tried grounding the blue/white wire on the solenoid to the frame to see if it cranks? Have you physically opened the right hand handlebar switch to see if the solder joint at the start button has broken, or possibly the contacts on the button are corroded? Is there any power to the B/W wire inside the switch to the starter button? While your're in there, try checking the kill switch wiring? The handlebar switches are not case grounded, they have a ground wire that is attached inside the switch housing. Concerning the clutch switch...a PO may have eliminated it, but all 81's had it. Wildkat's 81 SH has it, but neither of my 80's do. My Clymer's manual doesn't show the clutch switch in the schematics, either, but it's there. The Clymer's also shows that the 81 has a ballast resistor, but it doesn't It was eliminated that year.
