I have had the PartsNMore boots for several months and have had no problems. They look to be well made and I don't think you could buy better ones at any price. The box says they are made in Japan by Tourmax (Stock Number 48-1466). Sometimes a low price doesn't mean low quality.

deo, are your boots leaking? If they are just craked and not leaking you really don't need new ones.

See JP's Carb boot FAQ here.

I know you can get new ones elsewere, but not at that price. Some dealers even have them but they will hit you in the pocket book.

          Hope this helps.

            Thanks Wayne,

I haven't started the bike yet. It is a process to resurrect something that sat for a while. Hence the name. So I haven't been able to see if they are leaking. They just look uglier than all get out.

Just talked to a friend and they can get them for 95.00 at J and K, I think. The ones I have are the originals and I thought to replace them seeing as I have the carbs off right now.

I had read JPs thread and one on spraying a flexible rubber coating on them. Has anyone had long time experience with the spray? ie have they gone 5-10,000 miles after having done it.

hi dave, mail partsnmore to check availability, doesnt always show up! they'll get em in for ya.i can think of three reasons for cracking rubbers..1 uv rays 2 sprayed on chemicals wd40 etc 3 when you fit individual filters you MUST fabricate a brace to hold the carbs steady,or they bounce like pammy on baywatch! if you are lazy/not technically minded use a zip tie on the frame tube to the carb mounting bracket (just tighten it enough to take the weight dont tension it!

That is something I hadn't considered, the bounce with the individual carbs and filters after abandonning the box.

Has anyone had any issues with the carbs bouncing, etc?

I bought a set from them some time back. I agree....good quality. Try searching eBay motors/motorcycles. Search xs1100 completed items. There had been a set there a week or so ago that did not sell. He listed them a couple of times. 105 bucks I think.

                    Carb boots, who's bought em?

I bought some from eBay. I paid $99.00+ shipping. PartsNMore were out of stock as I checked before I went to eBay.......

The parts appear in all respects, to be of good quality, although the ad reads "sold as is".

The eBay seller is seller 24943. The return label on the box says Rick's Cycle Parts, Salt Lake City, UT., Ph. # 801-485-0156.

The carton the parts were in was printed on the inside. It appeared that the box the manufacturer originially used was turned inside out and used to send them to me.

The graphics, and printing stated "TOURMAX Intake Carb Holder Kit, Yam - - - XS1100 "

There is also a barcode, and a number that appears to be a Tourmax part number, 11-6113, made in Japan.

They came by US Mail, cost $5.35 postage. They were well packaged, and the shipper was very prompt getting them to me......

Now, can anyone tell me what is the torque value for the mounting bolts to install them???

Also. partsnmore has a tendency to place them on e-bay starting at around $95 a set, usually no takers. Check the userinfo of the seller on ebay and then go to the webpage they have listed

I wasn't able to find a torque value on the CD, will look in the paper manual when I get out to the garage in a bit. Really not sure if torque is all that important here, as long as the mating surface is clean and not gouged up. The mounting bolts are not that big, so I would hazzard a guess at no more then 5 or 8ft lbs.

Just a note here... if it goes loose again, you know you went too far.

Big Money $140, but in got em in about a week. Good quality. Had the carbs off already and wasnt gonna put the cracked ones back on or wait i dont know how long for PartsNmore. They had great carb rebuild kits for my 78XS11E too. They go the extra step to make sure you get the right main jet. Give em a call....Phil
