  • Looking for a part

I've been looking for a grab rail for the 79 Special and have come up empty handed. It seems that there just aren't many available. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to find one? I have checked most of the online parts requests, even looked in the UK and Australia. No luck. Any help is appreciated. I have a nice seat w/ back rest to trade. I just want the stock look.

Watch Ebay closely. One just sold for $9.99 less than 2 weeks ago. Check it out

Ebay is where I found a grab rail for my bike. Be aware however that the grab rail for a 79 Special is unique to that year, it is chrome tubular. All other years are a different shape and aluminum (like the one above).

I have a stock seat and grab rail on my 1980 Special, and am looking for (possibly) a set-up with the sissy bar/backrest.
Send me a picture of what you have. Maybe we can work-out a trade.

              newmac,

Unfortunately, the grab rail for the 79 Special is unique to that year. I'm looking for that particular part. If I come across anything to fit your bike, I'll pass it along.

                  Gary,

I appreciate you looking out for me. I was just looking at EBay yesterday afternoon, and it hadn't been posted yet.

Thanks again for the info., it was very encouraging.

Did you place a bid on the grab rail? If you don't want it let me know, I may try to get it.

                        Gary,

I have bid on the grab rail. It looks as if I have a bit of competition though. The auction ends today or tomorrow, so I will know pretty soon whether or not I was successful.

                        Thanks,
                        Mike

Mike, I had bid on that bar but I am out as I have decided that I would like a hard case which bolts in the same place that the grab rail does. If you don't win the auction try contacting Rice Paddy directly via their web site. I have not dealt with them but have them bookmarked.

Oh well, someone just spent a small fortune for that grab rail. I was amazed that it brought over $100.00! It's simply not worth that to me since I already have a back rest on the bike, and I have decided to sell it anyway.

                            Cheers,
                            Mike

That is amazing. It's not worth near that much to me either. I was interested when it was around $20
