Rake vs trail
Hi TC,
OK then, your long ago mishap reduced the steering head rake angle which reduced the front wheel trail and so gave the bike lighter than normal steering.
Then your 6'-6" height motivated you to buy over-length fork tubes. Longer fork tubes increase the front wheel trail and that gives heavier steering. In your case the affects of the collision and of the subsequent modification mostly balanced out to give a steering "feel" that's just right for you. Ain't serendipity wonderful?
