Tachometer needle bounce

OK I know i have seen something about this in the past but a search did not find me anything.
SO ... the question is ... My tachometer needle is bouncing all over the place which is a new issue wit this unit. Is this apt to be an electrical supply issue or a tach issue.

Thanks Paul .. .I think I will switch it out for one of the other tachs I have and if the issue remains i will start checking other stuff. it worked fine last fall when i put the bike away??
