I was bleeding my rear brakes on my XJ and the rear brake builds no pressure now. No fluid is coming out of the front left caliper either. Something wrong with the master cylinder, Anyone ever run across this.

I bleed the MC's by themselves first.
Hold a finger over hose hole and pump MC up, then attach hose and bleed the rest.

BTW, are you putting a short hose on the caliper bleeder valve and placeing other end of hose into a container with brake fluid ?

Brakes
The XJ has a linked brake system, it applies the front and rear together and has an proportioning valve. I found my rod from the pedal to the rear Master cyl wasnt moving you might check that. but you need to bleed the front and rear to get brakes. A power bleeder or speed bleeders work well. HTH

All I do is have someone pump and then hold the rear brake lever down, then unscrew the bleeder and let the air get out. then tighten, then try pumping the pedal again. So far no fluid is coming out of the front caliper and nothing out of the rear, The pushrod into the master cylinder seems to move fine. I'll try bleeding the master cylinder. thanks for the help.
