  • MikesXS coils on a XJ1100

    Hi all
I thinking about installing MikesXS coils on my XJ .
I'm pretty sure the resistance is different than XS11's . Instead of 1.5 ohms , mine are 2.5 ohms . Does this make a difference ?
    Anybody try this ?
    Thanks

      XJ coils

I read that but I didnt see anything about XJ's and their different resistance . I know that when replacing coils with Dynas XJ's take the green ones and not the red that XS's take . So I figured there was a difference ...

AT the bottom of the tech tip, just before the ride report, I stated that they will work with ALL XS's, the earlier ones with the 1.5 ohms....need to remove/bypass the resistor, as well as the later 81 series that uses the 3.0 ohm coils and NO resistor. I guess I need to add XJ's to that? It's just that most folks have learned that the XJ's and the 81 XS's have the higher resistance coils and NO ballast resistor vs. the earlier 78-80 XS's.

Guess that's what I get for assuming folks knowledge base. I'll get on it and add the info, sorry about the confusion or lack of specific info!

          81 XS and 82 XJ

Kool . I didnt know 81 XS's had 3.0 ohm coils . I supose that since I got the 81 TCI to work , that makes sense (maybe) .
Its been a long winter away from my bike .
          Thanks T.C.

              slightly off topic

I think the front calipers from MikesXS.com may work for me as well. I'm also looking at front master cylinder and clutch perch to rectify my weird angled mirrors ( handlebar change) . All is available at MikesXS and looks like it will fit . Now to find stainless brake lines for my XJ ...
