  • must be a dry county for oil filters

Went oil filter shopping today and came up empty handed. autozone no longer carries them and can't order them at the moment. napa can get em still but it will be tomorrow, oreilly's can get the xwix but it takes a day too and they are 2 bucks more than Napa. so i ordered a stock yard of them for my bro and I.

next time i will do the online source. but i hate waiting around more than a day for parts......hmmmm.

Hmmmm... I ordered 6 of the Frams from Autozone a while back... down to 2. I better check on that. Seems I only need them when I swap motors.... they haven't been making it to 3k miles! lol.

      Oil filters

Autozone pulled all the motorcycle filters last year. Why i don't know why because we use to sell a lot of them. I got lucky and stocked up on about 4 of them before they pulled them. They still sell motorcycle oil though, but my bike doesn't like it. Makes clutch slip so i went back to Rottela 15/40.

Shucks/Checker/Cragin still sells them but doesn't usually keep them in stock.
They can get them next day... I usually order four or five at a time.

We call our local Napa store the "tuesday brothers store" as outside of fuzzy dice and chrome valve covers for chevy engines they appear to have nothing else in stock but "we can have it for you tuesday".
We do have Car Quest stores in the area and they usually have filters on hand for around $6 a copy. I occasionally pick one up there as that is where I get the Scheaffers synthetic blend oil that the Dragon likes so well.
However I usually get the filters at a "Fleet Farm" store about fifty miles from me because they handle the same Fram-CH6002 filter for $3 and change. I pick them up six at a time in the spring and that usually gets me through the season.
The one thing that the local Napa does stock is the Lucas "slick mist" paint gloss intensifier. This stuff will ABSOLUTELY shine up your ride in just a couple of seconds. Also works on plastic, windshields, fiberglass, and chrome. Makes the windshield on my Vetter so slippery that most of the bugs have a hard time sticking to it!

              oil filters

You can order them on line from ShadeTree Power sports for $6.69 ea. They used to give a discount if you ordered 5 or more I don't know if they still do that though.

Next time you place an order for filters, order the T.C.'s Spin-On Oil Filter Adapter-S.O.F.A. and your worries on finding those motorcycle filters will be over.
You can use FRAM's filter model # 6017A. Some of the other auto filters that will fit are: the PH7317, the PH6607, PH3595, PH3590.
Just run down to the Modifications, oil & lubrication and read about it. Works great.

                  Thanks for the plug, but?

                  Hey DoLee,

Glad to hear that your SOFA is working well, but now've you done it! I don't go out of my way to advertise or push these things, cause I don't have any backstock as of now!

It takes me a while to make them, and I'm hoping to have some time to do many needed things on Godzilla to get him ready for XSEast 2008, and I won't have much time for making any more SOFA's or SOFCA's until after Memorial Day!

But I WILL put them back into production. I have two Xsives patiently waiting for a SOFCA from my next batch. I tend to wait until I have several pending orders so that I am more motivated to get out in the garage and make a batch knowing that they will then be going out soon to folks in need/want!

                    Genius:

I get mine at Advance Autoparts. Their store locator shows one in Springdale. Up here they carry Fram with both o-rings for about $5.

Fayetteville? I have relatives in Rogers. You're definately down there where the men are men and the sheep are nervous

                      SOFA

I love mine. I decided to do something about my personal fitness level so now I'm wearing sports socks, spraying sports deodorant all over me and stretching out on my SOFA, I feel great!

I also love my new spin on oil filter adapter that TC made for me. I couldn't source any FRAM PH3950 filters here in OZ but I found some on eBay.

I now have twenty nine (29) of them. I didn't realise others would fit. Oh well, I have a lifetime supply now so I'm cool. If any of my Aussie brothers need a filter let me know.
