  • Jet Needle Adjust

I yanked my carbs again for a probable lean condition, and thought I would possibly raise the jet needle one notch.
Naturally it already was. (Should be still one groove under the circlip, right?)
Anyway, anybody have any good advise on re-installing the retaining ring for the needle assembly down in the bottom of the piston?
    About to drive me nuts!
By the way, I'm taking them down to double check the pilot jets. Bike runs good but Mac pipes are bluing badly and there's a dead-spot at around 3000 revs.

    Help please!

    Thanks
    John

    John,

At 3000 you're still in the pilot circuit. I would increase the pilot jet size or back the adjustment screws out 1/4 turn at a time until the flat spot goes away.

Yes, the MAC's blue up by just looking at them!

Sorry, don't remeber how that retainer goes back in, but someone wrote a post about it recently, do a search.

        Thanks Randy:

Got the clip back in with my micro needle nose electronic pliers. Was trying to use snap-ring pliers and screwdrivers. Went back out after posting and put it right back in.
I'm just concerned about the mixture, because a. the pipes are bluing badly, even down to the bottom bend, and when cruising at around 3000 grand, when cracking the throttle, I have to really gas-it or downshift to accelerate. Other than that, runs great everywhere.
Already have screws out 3 turns.
Stock airbox, stock everything, except PO installed 4-2 Mac.

        Thanks
