  • whats this world coming to?...no parts

OK, So i spent saturday on a nice bike ride going to all the motor cycle shops within a 50 mile radius trying to fing some replacement float bowl drain plugs....well of course non exsist.....some how i knew that was gonna be the out come, but the ride was fun. One guy went as far as going back into the service department and digging around all of there used carbs sets trying to find me some plugs, but no luck......I even went to all the hardward stores that have all kinds of fittigns but no luck. Is there a site that sells the plugs? Like MikesXS, they have plugs but are they right?

    thanks all.

I'd be real surprised if the MikesXS ones were different. What happened to the old ones? Do you need a full set or just one or two?

You could also probably find something close at the hardware store; might have to cut them down, but I'm sure the threads are not anything exotic.

with the old ones the PO striped them. 2 of them are way gone and the other 2 are on the way. so i will replace them all. I figured the ones at mikes would be the same but am not sure.

I looked at all possibel do it myself fixes for these and nothing has gotten me to be ok with it yet. But i'm not ruling things out yet if i can find some brass ones.

Just make sure you get the right ones. It shows a 4 and a 5 mm.

If we are talking about the little bolt that goes into the bottom of the float bowls and something is stripped, I'd bet that it's the bowl itself that is stripped as opposed to the drain plug. I would think that the bowl metal is much softer than the plugs.

Sorry, I am not a mechanic to say the least.

Any chance these will help you out for parts?

                  Hey MRO and Genius,

MikesXS doesn't care about matching up parts for OTHER bikes other than 650's!

However, a quick review of the Yamaha Online Parts Fiches reveals thus!
                  XS11 79SF 1A8-14991-00-00 Screw Plug

                  XS65079SF 1A8-14991-00-00 SCREW, PLUG
So....looks like it IS the same part, and should fit as long as the bowl threads aren't stripped!

Strange that they are not listing that part for the BS34's also as some 650's have em too and they do sell a few BS34 parts
