I am about to do some work on my 1980 Special front end.
I purchased a set of fork seals on e-bay. In addittion to the fliud seals, are there replacable parts that I should address while I am "in there"?
Is there a way to identify the springs? I was thinking about buying the Progressive springs, but don't know for certain that this has not already been done by a PO.

On the progressive question...
You can tell if you have them when you pull them out of the tube.
If the spring tension (distance between each coil) is the same all the was up, then you prolly have an original spring.

If the spring tension gets small as you go then you have a progressive spring.

See how the tension gets tighter near the end of the spring. That is progressive.

Note about changing to progs. I did this mod about a year ago. I highly recommend it. My bike is a standard full tourer and it really made a difference. Now I just need progs on the rear!!!

Also in mods for your front end, make sure and find yourself a fork brace if you don't have one now. It also helps handling bunches.
