  • Front master brake rebuild

OK, so the paint is pretty much gone from a lot of the front master brake cyclinder attached to the handle bar. Brake fluid. It seems like the brake fluid may be getting out between the nylon fluid resevor and the metal housing. And the o ring between to two looks pretty bad. I was thinking of trying to find a new o ring and then make some kind of gasket that would fit between the metal and nylon that would stop this slow leak. I would use some kind for liquid sealer but do not want it to get into the brake fluid.

I want to repaint the metal housing and not have ruined again.

    Anyone deal with issue?

    thanks

I'm assuming you have already looked for any cracks in the reservoir or gouges around where the o ring sits. A new O ring may be all that is required however you may want to lube the o ring with some sil glide or any lube/grease that is made for brake cylinder o rings and rubber seals. I'll have to check the tube I have at home to get the name and manufacturer of the stuff I picked up.
