  • Givi faring for Specials!!

Hey there - I had been spying the Givi A770 fairing for the last couple of years and the wife stepped up and got me on for my birthday last week and it fits perfect.

    http://picasaweb.google.com/jlsells/SpringOpener2008

It is excellent quality and the brackets/spacing are perfect for the spacing of the headlight ears. It has an adjustable stop bolt that rests on the top of the headlight ears to adjust the tilt. Very stable up to 100mph! It seems that most online retailers should have them at around $220.

Makes the front end look a bit more modern, heh?

              Jeremy,

I usd to have a Givi A550 on my Guzzi, very nice quality and as you said, the mounting system works well. The cost was 1/3 what MotoGuzzi wanted for their fairng and it had stainless hardware. I was very impressed with both the way it worked and the way it looked. I'd buy another.

Really clean bike, love the fork slide protectors. I especially like the seat and how well it meets the tank. Was that a custom seat?
                  Hate the fairing....

                  Sorry....

Oh man, is that ever a sharp bike!!
I really like that fairing; the lines on it match those of the Special. Nice. How much of a difference does that particular one make compared to naked?

Gareth - The seat is an original 79SF seat that I picked up on Ebay a couple of years back. It was truly NOS, still in the factory box and plastic wrap. I was wondering if you were talking about the way the tank bag matches the slope of the tank?? It is a Marsee brand and I think they still make bags that are designed for teardrop tanks like whats on the Special.

Erik - I can definitely feel less wind on my body and if I hunker down just a few inches I can feel less wind against my helmet. I have tried other windshields before but always hated their bulkiness. I like the lines of this and it seems to keep most of the wind off my chest.

I think the previous owner of my F put an aftermarket vinyl cover over what appears to be the stock seat. Maybe the guy did a little foam trimming to make stretching the material easier, but the area where the tank, side covers and seat come together isn't as neat looking as on your bike. I can see the tank seams and all sorts of gaps and such that are the hallmarks of the ham-fisted, git-'er-done mechanic.
It might be time, now that I can see what it's supposed to look like, to get another cover and repad the seat carefully in that area.

                          I'll say it again.

That's a really nice bike you got there....

Thanks for pointing out this fairing. I've been looking to get one for my 79SF but most of what I'd seen so far just looked like a hunk of plastic out front. This is exactly the kind of style I'm looking for.
                            Looking for an XS

                            - stock standard headers(stupid PO), slip-on after-market mufflers.
                            - after-market rear shocks (PO installed)
                            - no airbox, POD filters

                            Misery remembered is ADVENTURE!
