I want to put a different seat on my 79 SF. I want something with a lower profile. My wife won't ride "that rolling death trap" so I was thinking of a solo seat. I have noticed a lot of OEM HD Sporster solo seats on Ebay for dirt cheap. If I go with a solo seat will I need to change the back fender since th stock on is only a half fender? If yes does any one know if the sportster fender will fit very easily? I want to lower my bike and elswhere on this site i read to use 11" shocks on the back to lower it. Does anyone know what model bike would have good donor shocks for a swap . Thanks in advance for the advice.

the subframe (seat rails) will need modified to fit the harley seat better to make a new seat pan and get a pro to fit the foam and cover, the shocks are harley fitment.the rear fender...any 6" or 7" fender will fit without nightmares, keep the plastic front part (standard) and trim the fender to suit.i have had good results using readymade trailer fenders avoid galvanised (bad to weld).hope this helps
