PLEASE tell me what the trick is to remove the front calipers from my bike. I see one nut at the top that can be removed, but is that all there is? Mine seem to be attached to the forks VERY tightly.

Hi Mike,
the Special's front brake calipers swivel on those single pillar bolts as the pads wear down. Do not have a conniption when you examine the front pads, they are supposed to be tapered like that. I did not know this and rushed out to buy a new set. Alas I did not open & examine the new pads until after the garbage truck had gone away with the perfectly good ones that I had thrown in the bin.Fred Hill, S'toon

One more thing to add to what Fred said, make sure you reinstall all the washers in the proper order otherwise the caliper will have trouble swiveling on the bolt. And if when you are removing that bolt your caliper seems to rock back and forth as you unscrew the bolt then the bolt is bent and should be replaced. Otherwise it will be almost impossible to get everything exactly back where it was before.Mike Giroir

Once you un-can a can of worms, the only way to re-can them is with a bigger can.
