  • Surging

Cruising in 5th at around 65-70, I swear it feels like there is a slight surging going on...but I don't notice any change in speed or even hear any change in RPM. Have any of you ever XSperienced this? Or is it just my imagination...maybe some wind buffeting?

Try other gears at same rpm. If it is surging should be more noticable at lower rpm. Try and figure out at what rpm it does it at.

      Re: Surging

A couple of things could be happening. Besides the pick-up coil wire thing, you might just switch over to prime to see if the surging goes away. Sometimes the vacuum petcocks do not fully function. It does not sound like it is running too lean due to carbs adjustment because this would cause surging during hard acceleration. One more thing, make sure the rubber caps are in place on the exhaust manifold ports and that the petcock (or octopus) vacuum hose has no holes in it. Also make sure that the breather through the gas cap is clear...
