On my old Krauser saddlebags, there was a big crack along the bottom, and up the back near the bag mounts.
I drilled 1/16th in. holes every 1/4" or so along both sides and used nylon fishing line to give the bag 'stitches' Once it was 'sewn' I pulled it tight, tied the line off and it has been holding for about 15years, so far.
