It could be from mis-adjusted pilot screws, or it could have a vacuum leak on the intake side, or it could have an exhaust leak. There's a huge amount of information contained in the technical pages here on the forum, and the search button at the top of the page can bring you more discussions on just about any problem. Have a scan through some of that stuff to start getting a bit of an idea what you might be up against. In particular look for information on carb sync procedures and triple-cleaning. Check back here often, as more people will join in the diagnosis.

BTW - welcome to the forum!

      Hi Shep & welcome,
does it pop just on overrun or all the time or what? And apart from the popping, how does it go? Like Ken sez, the search button will drown you in answers.

            Hi ya Eddy,
            welcome to XS land.

So ... like how long have you had your SF?
Has it been stored or has it been riden regularly?
Have the OEM fuel system (octpus).
How long since the last complete maintenance preformed?
(spark plugs, valve check, air filter etc..)
Could be your carbs just need a cleaning and tune up.
