I have had a couple of bad experiences with shifting pistons with air; Just use the master cylinder to pump it out with the brake fluid.
There is no "pop", the piston will not fly across the shop, You will not get a shower of frothing brake fluid blown around by 150psi of air, and you will keep all of your fingers.......
Only problem is the nasty nature of brake fluid; put the caliper in a pan, and be careful !
