  • "Wow, how did THAT happen?"

    A spam thread!
Nothing but lots of, shall we say "Action Nudie" pics!
For a second, I thought I had stumbled back into GNEPIG's "Girl of the Day Thread", but there were no pics of bikes. Not even complete engines.... just parts, like "head"s, rods, seats, open valves. Randy and Geezer would have appreciated the pics of electrical stuff... all the different male and female connectors, etc.
Luckily, I saw that thread before T.C. did and took care of it for him. It already had over 80 viewings, (but that probably was just due to TRBIG having to clear his computer screen everytime his wife reentered the room.)
T.C. I know of our SPAM protection proceedures, but how did this rogue porn site become a "member" and have the ability to start threads?
I think that maybe, additional security is in order.
Maybe... all "unverified member's" threads should first be routed, by the PM system, to say, maybe my PM box? Or maybe, make monitoring stuff like that a rotating additional duty for some of our long time divorced members?
    Just a thought.

      How can you tell?

Was there anything suspicious about the thread name or anything that would give something like that away? The problem is I frequently look up information and check out the goings on of the site from work. If something like that popped up there could be very serious consequences, so I'm just kinda wondering what to look out for if there is anything.

Either that or quit checking the forum from work, but that's no fun

        "I don't know..."

        I just zapped another one.
Easy to spot based on the topic of the thread.
I can't even describe the thread's topic, and the automatic censor would *** out every word.
It's been a few minutes, my memory is fading, but I think the topic was "**** dogs ***-***animals,*** **** *******, etc"
        You get the idea.

        Serious Consequences?
As for the possability of viral transmission... I'm not a computer guy, so I can't say.
(That woman in the pic with the horse probably has more to worry about concerning catching something than you do.)

          Hey Jwoell,
There's the heading of the latest thread I just deleted.
(I don't think even MRO would open that one at work.)

            The Spammer has been SMITED!

            Hey Prom,

And fellow Xsives. There were 4 different users that got registered, all with the same first letters, KRASCND*** something or other. The registration process is fairly easy to do and accomplish, just requires a real email addy that can be accessed to respond to the confirmation email, and BAM you're in!

However, this particular user made a good for us mistake! He was accessing from the SAME IP address for all four users, not using a phantom IP, so he has been BANNED thru his IP addy, and hopefully we won't see anymore of him!

Apologies to those that saw the contents possibly in the presence of SWMBO's or children! I just got on the site and I was viewing the Member's Forum first after my PM's, and hadn't gotten to the Tech Forum yet!

I'm no prude, I like my Porn just as much as Trbig/Prom, etc., but only when I'm searching for it, not on THIS SITE!

Thanks Prom for your policing actions prior to my arrival!

Don't worry about it TC. Envy is really an ugly thing isn't it? He probably would have been ok with it if you had mentioned a farm animal or two in there though??

Sounds like the entertainment would have been a lot cheaper had i just stayed home tonight and looked around on the site?? lol

No worries though... Pro has all the pics saved if you'll just PM him for them.

Hey Prom, you don't have to hog all the good stuff for youself. Me and 79XS11F and probably others would like some of that stuff. With puters you can keep it for yourself AND send it to others.

                        Hey MRO,

I saw that, too, the other day, but I had nothing to do with it! I think it's part of the name changes when folks reach certain posting plateaus, and you hit the 3K mark a short while back, so that may be it?! I remember someone posting the RANKS attained with certain posting threshholds, but can't remember it right now. I'll check the Admin section, and if it's NOT there, then I don't know WHO changed it, because only ADMIN's can change your titles!

I posted in a thread a few months back... but at the time, there was no one in the "member rankings" in the 3,000-4,000 range, so I couldn't reference anything that way.
MRO is the only one that currently fits in that category(and several other categories, I might add)
