    Thanks MRO,

For my simplistic aging mind, I just remember that it does control fuel, albeit some air mixed in, but definitely fuel, not JUST air!

So I know whether I'm leaning or richening it when I adjust it!
    Yep, float affects it all!

I am sure that's what I did, I brain-farted and raised my floats, when I meant to lower the float level.

I will pop them off, AGAIN, and reset them lol.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

"if you are set at 23 mm on your floats your fuel level is 2.7MM to high"

According to my manual, my floats are supposed to be at 23mm if it was a U.S. 1980 Model G.

However, my manual says the carb number for the bike should be 3H5-00, whereas mine are 3U9-00??

In my book 3U9 was the s/n on 1981 Specials...

I always assumed that Canada and the US got the same models, but maybe we got the UK style instead?
