Date of build

Some of you XSives please post the build dates stamped on the frame of their 78 please.
My bike I bought as a 78 but the logo on the steering head says built in Jan. of 1978....thanks for the help in advance

All '78 models would have been made between Sept 77 and Aug 78.

Just checking and thanks for yourinput Guys, like I say its built in Jan. of 78 and a friend of mine Mark who just bought his has a 78 as well going by your dating definition....there was a thought Marks was a 79 his is built in May of 78.

The EARLY '78 model was built in August, 1977. I know that from two bikes, my first, delivered in September '77, and frame number 1003, same delivery month.

Yes, a lot of vehicles are sold as the wrong model year because people don't understand how the system works, but May is right in the middle of the model year!

Most discrepancies come from bikes made betwwen Sept and Dec 31 of the model year, as people think they are the previous year model (actual year of mfg) rather than the new MODEL year.

Marks problem is....

Mark has just bought his bike with a build date in May of 78, the guy he bought it from thought it was a 79....though it is definitely a standard and repainted purple, its hard to say, let alone register it as a 78 or 79. The owner believed the paint color was green before it was painted which doesnt fit any paint scheme for an XS11 from the factory......my 78 was an original maroon or dark red.....

He can look at the frame and engine number to get the answer. 2H7-000XXX is a '78, and 2H7-020XXX is a '79 in the US. Check the Specifications from the main forum page to get all the numbers...
