Looking for gaskets

Time to pick the great XS/XJ braintrust...I am looking for some new gaskets for the shift cover,clutch cover and oil pan cover.I have already tried several sources for parts and none have anything related to gaskets or even the covers themselves.I need to replace these gaskets as part of my tranny gears upgrade.Any and all help is greatly appreciated....

They are usually hard to find unless you buy the complete engine gasket kit. I usually just make my own with gasket paper from the auto parts store. I make the bolt holes with a paper punch from office supply store.

Here's the easy way:

Go to Bikebandit, click on the box on the left "Part Number Search"

Check the box "Search Bike Bandit Part Numbers"
Select Yamaha from the drop-down list.
Enter all the part #'s and then do the search.
Here are the part #'s

Clutch Cover - 22640-001 ($14.96)
Oil Pan Cover - 22579-001 ($13.17)
Shift Cover - 22643-001 ($14.38)

Then you can add them to the cart and pay!

Man, I'm lucky

Got a local Yamaha dealer where I can get individual gaskets for my Yamy right off the shelf for half those prices.

I am just happy to find these let alone pay $50 for them....ofc you could have offered to get them for me and maybe save me some bucks in the process...just kidding...like i said..just happy to find them at all..due to the age of our machines it is increasingly more difficult to find what we need.Its been many years since a Yamaha dealer would even work on these bikes...If I didn't love these machines so much I would just get rid of them for something more modern...where the availability of getting it serviced thru a dealer isn't a problem...after all I am really not mechanicllly inclined when it comes to m/c repair...I am a turnkey type and would rather pay someone else to fix it.I am going to some extremes here in order to set Madmax straight.After all 25 yrs of ownership(bought as a leftover in'83)and Max has neever failed me...hard to just get rid of it or let it fall by the wayside.

Dealer

This Honda/Yamaha dealer has been here since 1942. I don't know what he sold in the early years, but he has an extensive stock of XS11 parts on the shelf in his warehouse and others he will order. The dealer is LeBard & Underwood, 321 E. Imperial Hwy., La Habra, CA 90631 (714) 879-8252 or (562) 691-0553 and he will take phone orders and ship. I don't own stock there or anything like that, just always got great service there for a reasonable price, but they won't work on my machine either.

A COMPLETE gasket set from Partsnmore is $77 for the XS and $65 for the XJ. Either one add $3 shipping.

Anyone know what the difference in the two sets would be besides the extra material on the head gasket for the YICS that you could easily trim off? All the other covers' gaskets are the same, along with the valve seals and such..

While that is true, Partsnmore is a reseller of aftermarket, not OEM, and since I am not personally familiar with the quality of that gasket set, I would fall back on OEM. Just a personal thing, but I'm reluctant to suggest that someone else do something that I've never done myself.

I've bought the gasket set off of them and was very pleased with the quality. So... I guess I can personally suggest it.
