changed the oil and filter, put gas in it and it fired right up first try. the only problem was that number 2 was back firing(saw the puff come back out of the carb. well eventually it blew the vacuum plugs off the nipples on numbers 1 and 2.
any one have some ideas? i am going to hook up the vacuum gages to check the balance. oh yeah number 2 didnt seem to be burning the fuel or it was way rich because it didnt heat up like the other pipes.
remember i have pod filters and a 4-1 pipe and have upped the jets according to suggestions
IDEAS?
1979 XS1100 SF "Black Goblin"
-Pod Filters
-4-1 pipe
-larger jets for carbs
1982 XJ1100 "Black Sheep"
It ran good before the mods.?
I run/test mine all the time with the air box off and do not get backfiring. (well I use to)
I also do not have 4-1's though.
I'm wondering if you got plug wires 1 and 2 swapted.?.
I used the original crankcase breather hose with a K&N breather filter popped into the end of it. With this filter/carb combo the hose jammed tight enough between the filters to hold it all secure...... no bracketry needed.
If you look carefully, you can just make out the breather filter showing above the main filters.
The float-bowl breather hoses are just routed back and down by the battery. Been like that for a decade with no problems...... we don't have a lot of insect activity in Scotland, but if you have a lot of bugs, I might try to fit a couple of little filters?
