just a a quick question, how does one switch out the shims once the cams are reinstalled, or do you have to pull the cams again to tp swap the shims?

I would spin the engine by hand several times to fully "seat" everything and then measure the valve clearances. If you recorded the existing shim sizes before putting it back together you will be able to figure out what you need. You can remove the cams again for the shim change out but there is a tool designed for doing the job while the cams are in place.
On a different note for anyone who is doing valve re & re work DO NOT LOOSE or FORGET to re-install the STEEL washers that go at the bottom of the spring bores!! If you do ... the springs will pound their way through your head in short order.
