    Mike,

If you haven't made any exhaust changes, you might be better off putting the stock airbox back on.

BTW, are you in York, Luzerne or Northampton County? (there are 3 Hanover's)

        Hey Rizzo,

IF you'll scroll down this page of threads, you'll see one that says Carb Jetting! Inside it you'll find a link to the carb jetting guide in the tech tips!

The coil upgrade will just help you burn the fuel better, but the Indy filters "may" require a mild/modest rejet, perhaps just of the mains, you may be able to tweek the pilot circuit by just the screws enough to run properly!

so what your saying is that if i want to run the coil pack set up and the emigo filters that it would be a good idea to get a set of 4into2 headers too, and then do the final adjustments for jetting the carbs, or just go with the coil packs and call it a day, leave the stock air box on.........

            Hey Rizzo,

In my ignorant younger days, shortly after I got my 81SH, I put a set of 4-1 pipes on it, but kept the airbox, and didn't bother rejetting, and it ran just great for 9 years that way without burning holes in my pistons. But after I rebuilt the top end with 1179 kit, and mounted Indy filters, I learned about rejetting to prevent the chance of damage to my new pistons.

The jetting guides provide for a variety of mods, Indy filters with stock pipes, stock box with aftermarket pipes, or both, etc..

If you have stock pipes, and the stock air box, most folks say to just put some holes in the bottom of the air box, that way you keep the velocity stack styled intake tubes, but can still improve air flow with a KN style filter in the stock air box.

But if you have aftermarket pipes, or need to due to wear/rust etc. on your OEMs', and you want to put Indy filters on for looks, or ease of R&Ring the carbs, then go for it. And then use the guide for just that, a starting point, you'll still need to check your plugs to ensure you have the right range of jets.

BTW, if you have put the EMGO filters on, you'll want to check out the tech tips about them due to problems that have occured with those filters restricting air flow around the edge of the intake bell affecting the vacuum slide action, etc.!

                Mike,

When you get her all sorted out, plan on coming to the poconos this Memeorial Day weekend for XSEast. here's the link to the thread:

                  Hey Rizzo,

BTW, look/browse thru the tech tips by scrolling down from the MAIN FORUM PAGE, not thru the links in the left yellow column, there are newer tips that are NOT linked in the yellow column!

If you'll look thru the tech tips, under Mods/carbs IIRC, you'll find a thread about the pod filters and some mounting variations that can help. A search in the Tech Disc. Forum for Pod filters or Emgo filters will probably reveal several with info about some other changes to the filters that folks have tried to get them to work without allowing the prominent mounting lip to get in the way.

I mounted them on my bike and didn't have any problems with air flow, but decided to do the Lowes Velocity stack mod anyways. If you're sure you don't want to possibly go back to the airbox, then the tech tip showing how to use the airbox mounts as velocity stacks and mounts for the pod filters might work for you!

The jetting guide is in the same Mods/Carbs section!

my other question is when you put the emigo filters on, what do you do with the air tubes coming out of the carbs that would normally go to the airbox, inline with the gas lines.....

The tubes are vents for the carbs. You can just run them up under the tank, and leave them. I would put a fuel filter on each one, to keep the "bugs" out of the carbs....

could you tie these together to make one ,the ones from the carbs to the center one on the air box that goes to the motor with a tee

NO, the center tube is the breather for the engine. You can buy a small filter that will fit it from most auto parts stores. Just put it on with a clamp, set it up close to the battery box, and your good.
