  • dying battery

hey gents it's been a little while, i've been lurking around...

it always happens the bike sits for 2 week and it cranks slow but it always starts
this time i have it on a charger but i'm shooting off this question just in case it futile.

where can i get the best price agm battery?
where can i get the best price regulal battery?
will a weak battery produce a weaker spark? this last question nags at me because the last few times i tried to start the bike from a protracted sleep like every 2 weeks, one plug would always not fire and that would be #4 the one near my right knee
will using filtered and not distilled water kill the battery faster?
    thanks guys in advance

Last battery I got was from Kragen ($44.00)
    Distilled water is best.
If your going to let it set for awhile get your self a battey maintainer. Can rig a connector to the battery so you don't have to remove seat or side cover. Battery will like it.

      mro,

will it evaporate the acid faster?

        no
acid remains as any water evaporates.
Distilled water has no contaminates (or least amount)
which is why it's recommended. Lots of crud in tap water (read the anual water quality report for your area and I think you may be surprised)

BTW, adding acid instead of water when the battery is low is not a good idea. Will raise the batt's amp rating while at the same time will shorten it's life expectantcey. Can check the specific gravity with a hydrometer after a batt's been charged which will give you an idea of it's condition. I check em with a load meter tho. Most auto stores have very good battery test equipment and will check your battery for free.

Do a search on AGM battery and you will find several threads, including this one:

i did a search but want to ask anyhow, it was a clogged fuel filter, not spark, with the hard starting, killing the battery, i charged it up and it starts right up i know the battery is on it's last legs maybe a tender to see it thru old age...

i picked a fight with a harley and smoked him on the freeway, including splitting lanes, he was a good rider, he was two up, maybe without his babe it woulda been a different story, anyhow xs rules!

              Easy

Harley's are easy anywhere, even one up and even the V-rod. Only place I can't take 'em is the hole shot, after that they are looking at dissapearing XS.
