  • Maximan ... Venture Bags on '79F

    Maximan:

An old post mentions your mounting of Venture Royale saddlebags onto 'Zilla by using aluminum plate.

Do you have any pics of the mounting system you constructed?

Planning on doing likewise to my '79F Standard.

If other members have similar experience mounting Venture or other hard bags on their machine pls share the wealth.

    thanks, Rob

      Rob,
Maximan is no longer posting on this site.
I know his final bags used some mounts that were hand built. It should be easy to mount the Venture equipment to a standard. Figure out the mount height for the Venture bags, and measure from the shock mount, rear frame mount, and footpeg mount for the three bolts per side.

Ray - Sorry to hear of Maximan's departure.

Taking aforesaid measurements & fashioning a cardboard template seems the way to go.

        Thanks guys

          Hey Tucman,

Here's a photo from my thread on my Redneck Diamond Plate saddlebags and mounting system that I made!

I used simple angle iron and plate iron that I could cut and weld. I made some keyhole slots so that I could use some of those round headed/square inner shaft bolts...their real name escapes me at the moment, but this way I could have the bags to easily remove and take with me!

Here's the link to the whole thread in the Member's Lounge!
