  • Intruder 1400 Exhaust on 79 Special?

Came onto a pair of fat Suzuki Intruder pipes and thought perhaps with a little custom fabrication, I could mate them up to my 79 Special 4 into 2 header.

The Suzuki's a V-Twin, of course, and I have no idea as to the ramifications involved here. My 79 is jetted with 140's and a K&N air filter. Haven't drilled the airbox. Runs strong and steady.

Anyway, what do you all think? Besides the obvious concerns of actually mating & mounting them, what should I be thinking about performance-wise. Will the bike suffer? What could I do to balance everything?

Good looks aren't that important. However, I've placed them up next to the Special and wow, do they look sweet. Here are some links to the pipes I'm referring to:

    Hey Forester,

I would think that as long as the mufflers have baffles, and are not just fancy shaped hollow pipes, then you should be okay, and you probably won't need to rejet, but would monitor your plugs just in case!
