  • pick up coil & alterator ?s

just wondering due to a fire problem the wires from the pickup coil and alterator wire was damaged pretty bad, about 5 inches of wire from both coil and alerator look good but the rest was trashed, my ? is has anyone tried to just splice back into the old good wires and rewire them and work? just wondering before i take the time and rewire or am i wasting my time?
    thanks

    Hey Jeremy,

I thought MRO answered this in your other thread?

Wire is wire, as long as you use the same or slightly larger/gauge wire than what is already there, you should have no problems. Just like MRO said, twist the splices together, solder, and shrink wrap, and just make sure you connect the same wires to the same wires!

Folks have had to replace the white connectors of the ALT due to resistance causing total meltdown of plugs!
