okay I did a search and it appears like the only choice for the xj is the Yamaha air filter. But now the Yamaha dealer is telling me that they have been discontinued. Does anyone have any ideas where I could find an air filter for my xj?

Call a few independent bike shops and see if they can get it through a different supplier. Somebody might have some sitting on the shelf. If you find some get a couple of spares so you don't have to look for them again. Part #10M-14451-00-00 ELEMENT, AIR CLEANERThanks Tom
