Does anyone know what gauge wire the stator windings are?

Maybe Mathh used this alt/gen conversion kit on his super XS?
If not it's small enough, maybe someone could figure a way to mount one on an XS11. Maybe with belt and pullys?

In my search today for odd parts for the old stuff that I get to work on,
I found this (the items at the top of the page):

The alternator there is to small amperage wise. With the info that I have come up with, square stator wire and more field coil windings might get us a few more amps. All I need now is to know the gauge wire on the stator windings. If we could go up a gauge or two by using square wire, that would handle the extra ampacity. Winding the stator with square wire might be kinda tricky and take some time. Also the problem is that there are only a few places where you can get square "magnet" wire. You need "magnet" wire because of the enamel coating for insulation.

          Hobbyman,

If you can measure the wire with a micrometer, here are the guage #'s and their corresponding diameters in inches:

          10 .10189
          11 .090742
          12 .080808
          13 .071961
          14 .064084
          15 .057068
          16 .05082
          17 .045257
          18 .040303
          19 .03589
          20 .031961

            Guage

According to Randy's chart the wire is 15 guage. If square wire is made in that guage I can get it, but I have already consulted the "experts" in the field and the response is, that we need to recut the laminate material to allow more windings. As I said before, not impossible, just very expensive.....
