question about shocks....

    question about shocks....

    got a oem set of shocks online and they are really nice....but further inspection shows this strange dial on the top of the shock.....i do not have these dials on the shocks on my bike and i can almost bet that they r the original shocks....p/n for the new shocks is 3h5-22210-10-93......is this a fm tuner....does this dial control the ultimate horsepower of the bike....is it a secret government conspiricy.....only the xs11 forum will have the answers......thanx in advance 4 a reply.....ross

    From 1980 on the shocks had dials on them. It is a dampening dial.

      cajun31...thanx 4 the info....was wondering.....can u tell me it how it is set....i see it has #'s stamped in the dial....what does the number mean...low/high settings....how many potholes i hit b4 the ol' lady is off the bike?.....ross

        Hey Ross,

        If you'll go the LINKS FORUM(not the left column link), and find the thread about Owner's Manual for 81H/SH, you will be able to download it, it's in PDF format, about 6MB, and will explain the shocks, and other things about the XS11, like the parking light steering lock feature that if used can allow your battery to drain in a matter of hours while you are at work after riding it to work!

          topcat58gr.....thanx 4 the link....will look it up later on....as far as the lock feature...learned the hard way first....then learned not 2 use it at all....thanx 4 the advice though...ross

            Now thats funny LOL...but true...a really dumb feature....I just got an'81 XS and it has this feature...my '82XJ does not...
