  • Pilot screw fell out while riding...

I recently installed a dynojet jet kit, and per their instructions I was running the pilot screw at 4 turns out. The bike was running great but fairly suddenly it developed a misfire. I thought it was ignition related but turns out one of the pilot screws fell out and another was on its way to a similar fate. My guess is that at 4 turns out the spring does not provide adequate preload on the screw to keep it from backing out due to vibration. Can anyone recommend an alternate spring (from McMaster maybe?) that will still allow the pilot screw to function at 4 turns out, but provide enough preload to keep it from falling out of the carb? Anyone else ever have this happen?

If you are 4 turn out, you NEED TO REJET!!! At most, you want 2 1/2 turns out. after that, it's time to change the pilot jet.

      Dynajet kits

I believe that the dynajet kits also include a main needle with clips and if you move the clip to a lower point (making it richer) you can go back to the proper idle screw position and it will run even better.

Be surprised if an 80LG will run right with the kit if engine/exhaust and carbs are stock...

Patrick - are those the pilot screws with a rubber o-ring? If so, a fresh ring might give the resistance you need.

I have a question about your kit. Were the jets all Mikuni or were they made by dynojet?
