Hey Ross,
In this thread/tech tip for the extra steel plate I posted the specs for the springs and frictions!
They are 3.00mm max, and 2.80mm min!

Hey MRO,
I just re-looked at the copy of the service manual, section 7 the appendices, and it shows 3.00 max, and 2.80 min !?
I'm just wondering why the difference in your manual?
T.C.
PS, I just looked at the Yamaha Web site online Fiche, and for the 78E, the 2nd Service Data page, it also shows the same values as what I posted!T. C. Gresham

[QUOTE]I'm just wondering why the difference in your manual?

OK...looked thru 5 different manuals
2 factory, 2 Claymer and 1 Hanes
Factory manuals
78 to 80 manual
page 3-30 3.0mm, wear 2.8mm
page 9-23, SF suppulment 2.6mm, wear 2.4
---
factory manual for H/SH/LH 3.0mm, wear 2.8mm
---
When I posted I must have just opened the 78/80 manual by chance to the SF suppulment.
Upon reflection the clutch plates I've checked were all 2.8mm or better, have yet to pull one of the SF's clutches. Don't expect to until maybe sometime this summer. Made a note to check the differences when I do
---
The 2 Claymers show same 3.0mm, wear 2.8mm
___
The Hanes shows the same as the Yamaha 78 to 80 manual
3.0mm, wear 2.8mm, SF 2.6mm, wear 2.4
mro
BTW, have you any SF riders measured your frictions?
Like to know if the SF suppulment is a miss printLast edited by mro; 02-01-2008, 10:04 AM.
