    Well this is odd given that I am pretty sure my bike was originally purchased in Canada but can't confirm that. The serial # is a 2H7 series not a 2H8
    The number on both the frame and the engine is 2H7110430

        that is probably correct, my 3X0 says 2H9 on frame, engine and paperwork.
        that means probably there were not enough changes from the stock model to justify a new frame and or engine prefix. just leads to a different fiche (as mine does too). The 3X0 was first meant for the UK market and later released in the Netherlands with some modifications.

          Serial No's

          Actually John, you have prompted me to ask this question about my '79SF - 3h3-012808 Special. According to the listing on the thread about production numbers, mine should have been a US spec bike, but it has metric instruments (220k speedo). It is an import bike (into Australia) but I have no idea where it had been previous to me buying it in 2002, in as new condition with only 18000klms on the clock. Can you help sort out this riddle?

                My 79f is 2h7-024704 engine and frame match. 45000 mi.
                79 F full cruiser, stainless brake lines, spade fuses, Accel coils, modded air box w/larger velocity stacks, 750 FD.
                79 SF parts bike.
