The 81 SH started with 4R0-000101 and I have 4R0-000437 which I suppose means I have the 336th. one made for 81 and so I wonder what the total number for the year 1981 was. According to the statement of origin on mine, it was manufactured in September of 1980 and so it must have been an early one however who knows what month they stopped making 81's and commenced on the 82's. What is the number on yours TC?

I didn't think copying the whole message for just one bike was worth it, so here it is DAN!

4R1-001542.............just to add another to the mix............and yes, when I bought it new there was a controversy between dealer and State Patrol inspections as to what year it was. Colo. State Patrol decided too costly to tangle with Yamaha, and would loose that contest anyways. Whats really ironic is that when I bought it back after owning it ten years, selling it, buying it back two years ago is that I had to take it to any dealer for a serial number verification as there was still a discrepincy with DMV when I went in for the title change-over!...............Least I won't have to deal with that EVER again. Just a couple other things different with this Venturer1100 are: Ignition still had the slotted adjustable timing mount even though it uses the 4R0 TCI(have 3 extra), came new with the gold top MNS carbs(which was a eye-catcher to me back then, as they matched the gold emblems), and it came with the rectangle chrome mirrors(which are still on bike). Know now that none of that mentioned was the normal for this version of the H............Hmmmmm......interesting.81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

If you'll look at the original thread, the serial #'s start at xxx-000101, apparently Yamaha wanted to make it easier to count, than to start with 5 zeros?
