      mrwheelie, just gotta ask what the f*ck you used to get the engine that clean....i'm working on repainting the tank/covers/seat trim, but i really want to get the engine clean like that....have tried gunk and others with average results.....please let me know....also VERY nice looking 78....clean looking bike as it should be....excellent restore...thanx in advance for the advice....ross

          I just used wd-40 on everything, and baby oil on the rubber and plastic parts. I purchased the bike from the original owner, he keep it covered in a garage, so all it needed was a good cleaning..

            you soaked the motor down with wd40?....that can't be right is it?....please explain......also looks like mine was not as luck to be stored so carefully...ross

              yes I soaked it, then wiped with a clean rag. dont rub to hard. if it doesnt work your finish may be to far gone, so painting will be the other option.

                sounds like something i will have to try out...can you use a toothbrush to scrub it all down?......once again, thanx for the advice in advance.....also like the baby oil trick....will try that also....ross

                  yes a toothbrush will work, then wipe with a clean towel or rag while the wd40 has the dirt and grime at the surface

                    on a safety note, be carefull not to get any wd40 or baby oil on the tires.

                      mrwheelie....completely understand your message....i have some tire dressing i use that you have to be very careful with also....thanx for the all the advice.....i'm hoping 2 have pics up of my bike soon.....too d*mn cold out now to work on it....12 degrees here now with the wind chill....and that is up from what it has been....as you can tell, i'm allergic to cold weather...but will ride when it's 38 degrees out...go figure....ross

                              Funny guys!!!! its in the 30's and raining in Dallas Texas, 78 degree's in here, its also airconditioned for the Texas summers, the other half is concrete for the Nismo 4x4.
