I have some cases split and am wonder what the best sealer would be for reassembly of the split cases. Is Yamabond the best or RTV or what?

Yamabond is the best, when used as the directions say.
Yamabond is made by 3M, you could order the 3M version for about half the price: it's 3M 1104. You might be able to find it at auto stores also.
What ever you do, don't get the Honda stuff= it was CRAP=
$16 bucks wasted!

I currently have an order started at z1e and they have this
" ThreeBond Liquid Gasket 1104 / 1194
TU53-0395
-----------
3.5oz tube - semi drying gasket sealant - excellent for crankcases.
Three-Bond has released 1194; an improved version of 1104. We will be shipping this new product in place of 1104
$5.94"
Is this the same stuff or something else'81 XS1100 SH

I've been rebuilding several AVT engines lately, extra income for my MNS restorations, and when I was paging through the Clymer manuals for both Hondas and Suzukis it said "to clean mating surfaces and apply YAMABOND #4 or equivalent". Thought that it was funny to see a competitors product being used.
I've used Yamabond 4 & 5 for over 30 years and found out that Yamabond 4 has been discontinued but luckily replaced by Three Bond TB1194. I guess we'll find out if it's really the same.Do'Lee

3 BOND liquid gasket #1104 is what I have been using. Grey in color, pretty fluid to apply and pretty fast drying. Remains flexible when dry.
