I just bought a bike off ebay...a 1981 XS1100 Special..with 12k orig miles...carbs have been worked,k+n filters, new 4 into 1 exhaust and headers, air forks,Ohlins rear shocks, new conti tires...Bike is pristine and rides strong and "like new."I will see as I am heading to Toledo, Ohio area to pick it up this weekend. There was only one Pic.in the ad but the owners quarantees it is pristine and ...I'm gonna love it!So as soon as I take a set of decent pics I will post 'em... you all will have to wait....a few days....I leave very early Sunday a.m. and hope to be back by Mon a.m.(24 hrs or so)Oh yeah the bike is black and sort of looks like a Midnight Special but the exhaust is chromed and the tail of the bike looks like it was changed..now it looks like an old school streetfighter hence its new name.."Streetfighter"...its got an attitude!....To be continued....

Brant...OFC! I should have figured...LOL...Madmax is the August posterboy in the new '08 XS/XJ calendar...At any rate this is going to be an interesting aquisition....The seller states this bike is "collector's grade."We shall see soon enough.Depending upon the weather there,I will try to take a test ride...just to affirm that there are no tranny issues...so that can be done in a short distance...a few blocks...1980 XS650G Special-Two

Hey Madmax.............don't let tranny problems stop unless it locks up with a bent fork or something. In the middle of fixin' mine right now(second, and may as well do first while shaft is out), not hard, just gonna be a PITA putting shaft assembly and forks at same time. Thinkin' I wish I had a third hand! Ohter than that, had a fine, extremely hard stone that's been in my tool box betting for 20plus years that work very well on the dogs. Now have to find one that is close to I.D. of slots so as to keep same arc in bottom of slots, just angle the grinding a bit so as to act as a dovetail fit to the dovetailed dogs. Let us all know how it goes with the new steed for the stable!81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

Well, since I am 579 miles from the bike its kinda hard to take pics LOL...I asked the owner but he is not in the 21st century when it comes to the kinds of instant gratification that we are used to ...LOL so he had one photo that his nephew was able to post on line...NOW I have tried for the past FRIGGIN hour to upload this photo from photobucket into a post here and everytime I go to post it the link comes up incomplete and if you click on it you get a photobucket main page but says page not found....So I am tired and i am sorry i cant seem to get it to work.....but I promise to post my own pics that hopefully i will figure out how to F@#$%^& upload...sorry to rant.....time to go to bed ...I appreciate all the positive comments....G'Nite!1980 XS650G Special-Two
