  • Headlight angle

Now that I have a very bright headlight, I wonder what the spec (if there is one) of the headlight angle?

With my stock H4, I had raised the head light to provide the most headlight range. After the H.I.D. conversion, it was obviously too high. I put an incline meter on the face of my headlight and found it was 4 degrees above horizontal.

I adjusted it down to horizontal and went back out. It seems much better, but I did not pass any cages to see if they "high beamed" me. On low beam the H.I.D. has a very distinct horizontal line of light. Above it is dark, below it is light.

It is probably a trial and error process, but thought I would inquire.

    Hi Denny,
When we used to check for headlight alignment,
    for both cars and bikes,

    find urself a level area,
ull want a wall or something similiar to shine the headlight onto,
park the vehicle about 25 feet away from the wall,
    headlight on high beam,
adjust the headlight so the beam on the wall is the same height as the headlight on the bike/vehicle.
    hope it makes sense.]

I will give this a try and see what angle the headlight ends up.

I use the "drive by sight" method. Adjust the LOW beam so it is just below the top of the trunk lid ( boot for the other side of the pond). That should keep the cars happy, and you will have a good view of the road.
