  • Vetter mount bracket

I am looking for a vetter fairing mount bracket for my'82 Maxim XJ11.My question is...on ebay I have found a bracket for an 1980-81 XS850.Will this bracket fit a Vetter WindjammerIV onto a XJ1100 frame???The Vetter is off a Kawasaki but should fit with the proper mount bracket. So will the XS850 work on the XJ11???

I'm not feelin any Love here....so I did a search to see if this was discussed before.I found some indirect references to the effect that any fairing mount bracket off any XS would fit the XJ as well.Like I said...the references were implied but not clearly definitive as I would like.....SO Can Anyone Tell Me if in fact a fairing mount bracket for the XS850 will fit the XJ1100 frame.I would really like to know this BEFORE I decide to buy the XS850 bracket.Dont everyone chime in at once now...............

      Hi Madmax,

Sorry, I don't know the answer, but I do know that a couple of good pics HERE! In the left-hand menu, click on FRAME, and OIL COOLER.

I think the vetter mount mounts on the same points as the oil-cooler on the 1100, and it looks like the XS850 frame is different in that place.... sssSo it won't be a straight fit.

However, I would guess that altering an 850 mount to fit would be a whole world easier than making a mount from scratch; the frames are the same sort of shape, but it all depends on your own skills as a fabricator!

      Hope it helps a bit!

        Take a chance?

        Hi Max,
hey, I dunno neither but ask yourself:-
How much will the e-bay bracket cost me?
Could it be made to work with a little "adjustment" if it ain't quite right?
Am I prepared to sell it on if it just won't work?
        Could I scratch-build one instead?

Al and Fred Thanks for some interesting points to ponder. My gut feeling is to go with the XS850 bracket...if it is close I can make it work. The bracket and hardware on ebay was selling for $45 and $8 for shipping....I am getting psyched for doing this.i have never had a Vetter on any Yamaha and the one i bought a Windjammer IV is in really very nice condition.I will post when I have everything mounted on MadMax.....Ben

Do a the search on the side bar for fairing bracket and I think you'll find your answer I think it won't line up with the down tubes ,But can be held in place with hose clamps

I have a 750 bracket and the saddles that are suppose to match up with the frame down tubes will not match on the 11. So .. off to the wielding shop for an adjustment to the saddle angle / location is the way to go.
