  • Do you ride your XS11 everyday?

It's my only transportation so it's a very rare day I don't ride my XS11. I even ride it when there's snow on the ground. Sorry the photos are so blurry, but it really was a cold ride.

      cold ride

Way the weather is up there right now you might need to add some pontoons...

      My local weather report:
Today: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 63. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

It's raining pretty good right now, so it be more like 100 percent chance of rain I've got about 80 miles to do today.

        Parked until March

        Hi Martialstax,
Maybe you can get away with that in Seattle but in Saskatoon it's gonna be in the double digit minuses until next March.
OK, if I had a grand to spend on electrically heated snowmobile gear I could ride the sidecar rig on the snow & ice no problem but I couldn't park it anywhere outside. Once the engine oil gets down to the outside temperature no way would the engine start.

Feel for you, I commuted everyday about 34 miles round trip for a year when all I had was my bike (not even an XS, just a little CG125). It was lovely in the summer but awful in the winter, I was almost crying some mornings as my hands and toes warmed back up.

Now I have the choice - two cars and a bike and we have the same kind of temperatures that fred had in toon town so I really appreciate my cage.

Heh Fred, with that sidecar you should be able to put a car battery in there for winter months! Then it wouldn't matter how cold it got...

I've rode my bikes (not the xs, yet) all months of the winter. The problem is not the snow, it's the ground, once it's frozen.

In Seattle, like Vancouver, it can snow all it wants, the ground never freezes, so the roads stay pretty clear. The only time you really have to watch is during the snowstorm. A couple hours later ans the snow has melted off the roads.

Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

Thats how I got to school all last year. RAIN, Sleet, Snow, or shine. Ohh, I forgot hail(that was an accident) I too did not use a windshield on my daily ride. It didn't snow but a few times last year but it still sucked. The sand on the road was the real problem. Just keep it covered when it is outside. Every day I cleaned the exhaust when I got home from school. I am paranoid of destroying a stock exhaust.

                      mega snow storm

Somebody called me a pussy the other day but we've got 2 feet of snow over a couple of weeks . So much in fact the town cant handle it and I've almost lost my parking spot at my building cause they have no place to put the snow . A bit of profiteering goes on as people are in a stranglehold from the removal crews .
                      Temps are about 15 F . Poor F*ckin Canada

Sorry I dont have a pic

2ft? Over a couple of weeks? Pffft!

We get that much overnight. It's been -4F to -25F here last couple weeks.

I feel for you folks up north. Ir rarely snows in Seattle. That little bit of snow in my photos was gone by the next morning. We may get a lot of rain, but it rarely gets so cold that I can't ride my bike.

Relative of mine said at Thanksgiving that he rides his Triumph every day because if he takes the car it leaves his wife and kids without transportation during the day. So, he said one day it was about 29 degrees outside and snowing when he pulled up to a drugstore to make a quick shopping trip on the way home from work. He parked next to a guy in a big SUV who was staring at him like he was an alien or something for riding in the snow while my relative was parking the bike and getting dismounted. They happened to be walking up to the store about a step apart when almost to the door the guy following him snapped and said, "Crap, I locked my keys in the car because I couldn't believe you were riding in the snow and cold". My relative just said, "Well, I've never locked my keys in my motorcycle!" and walked on into the store.

Don't ride in the winter, too much snow, if there isn't snow we've got all the $%^^#*_@ sand and salt on the roads to deal with. Cleaned knee deep snow of my deck yesterday. Either way it gets too greasy to ride. BTW what are bike tires rated to, I mean temperature wise? I've never checked to see how hard the rubber gets when its real cold out.
