  • Majenta red for 1978E standard

Who makes this paint. I tried Duplicolor and Krylon in the auto store. Let me know product trade name. I have primed with etching primer and it looks good. Will sand with 400 and 600 next to get smooth. Thanks for help again, and again.

The E is yamaha "Macho Maroon".
As far as I know it's not available, BUT

If you have a good sample can take it to a paint place and they should be able to match it. Have seen a few standards that have been repainted,...only one really looked like the original color.

MRO is correct .. the 78 model is slightly different then the 79 model color. 78 is Macho Maroon and the 79 is Magenta Red. I went to a custom paint shop and they gave me a large book of color squares. I took them outside into natural light to do the match up and low and behold the closest color match to the Macho Maroon was Magenta Red. I don't think anyone would even notice the difference unless both colors were on the same bike on different parts. If you want Macho Maroon your going to have to have it mixed up by someone who will do it from a NOS part and they will do it by eye and experience.
