1982 Maxim coils ????

A question,


I found MY 1978 coils were bad,so, installed a set of coils off a

1982 maxim.

My question is this, should I bypass the ballest reasistor, or,

take it out of the circuit, or, leave it alone ??

I did not find a ballest on the Maxim when I dismantled

it for parts,

The resistor needs to be bypassed to use the XJ coils. They should be the 3 ohm vs the 1.5 ohm coils used on the 78-80 bikes.
