2nd gear question !

Hello ! I am thinking about a total "rehab" for one of my xs1100 engines. This engine did not have a problem with the 2nd gear,but I dont know if the previous owner did fix it before?
Anyway, I will ofcourse check that if I do this job.
Can one of you who have experience on this tell me if I am right or wrong here: when I look on the microfiche for the trans,it will be to move part nr.17 (washer) to the other side of part nr.16(gear,2nd wheel) ??? Nice if someone can confirm this to me.
I read Bob Jones book "XS eleven heaven " ,and from his description I believe it must be like this??

That is correct, Terje. If you are NOT sure about the gear, you can undercut it, or spend the $140 US on a new gear from Yamaha. All the new gears now have the undercut on the dogs, and they work MUCH better.

Hey Rob,

I think that's full retail! I've done recent research and you can actually get ALL 4 gears(1st,4th, 2nd, 5th) for about $200.00 from online sources like cycle-parts.com or Zanottimotor.com.

See that's better and that's the way I would be inclined to go if I was concerned about my Trany but I also do have the funds to throw at my bike .. thank god
