  • Jet drilling/removal

So, my basket case carbs have several stripped out pilots and mixture screws. I got me a reverse drill bit and am wondering if anyone has any advice on this procedure other than assisting the removal with heat and penetrating oil.

Is the goal to get the drill bit to bite and unscrew the jet? Do you use a lot of pressure? Should I use my drill press, I don't think it has reverse?

    Hey Jessie,

You're a GURU now, you're supposed to be GIVING advice, not asking for it!!

Remember, use the search...here's the results of REVERSE DRILL BIT , Fredintoon has some sage advice in one of these threads IIRC, amongst others!

If you use a drill you take the chance of ruining the carbs. If the drill wanders or you go to deep the carbs are ruined. "Use a #1 easy out/screw extractor and maybe a LITTLE heat and you will never ruin a carb and you can usually still use the jet.
