  • My Ebay Xs1100

Well the Xs1100 I bought off E-Bay has turn out to be a nice surprise. I originally bought this for a parts bike but it was in better shape mechanically than my original.

I swapped over my Vetter fairing & bags ,front calipers along with my exhaust and carbs ,the E-bay bike had a 4 into 1 and now I have a great running bike . I was out friday and sat ,it's still nice to ride the fairing is great for the colder months

A few of my buds thought I was nuts to buy this bike considering the distance but that was part of the reason for this purchase.I turned it into a nice Thanksgivining weekend with my sister and her family that I don't get to see much since she was only a few hours away from where the bike was.

So now I have a different parts bike that I have decided to restore over the winter. I only see new paint ,tires ,lots of polishing or chrome and the worst I see is new gaskets and seals.I didn't have the heart to turn it into a parts bike but it seems like a good business on E-bay .

I am thinking this bike will be nice to ride during the summer months here and use the one with the fairing in the colder months or both .I know spoiled but I had to work hard to get there haha!

So this post is not for my questions to be answered but just to say another XS1100 was saved from E-Bay and the bone yard.

That is awesome. Everyone that is saved, is one more on the road. My personal dream is to see these machine draw a larger and larger following with sites like miksxs or z1enterprises, but just just for elevens, and I would like to see them increase in listed value.

Great news there. I'm set up the same way; one MS with vetter for colder weather and one nekid for the warm months.

This is what it looked like when I bought it .[IMG] (above)

This is what it looks like now. I just changed things over quickly so I could ride it before it got too cold.I plan on cleaning it up much better in the spring.

Nice work! I know how practical baggers are, and what a difference the fairing makes - and have used both myself, but I still so much prfere the nekid look. As I said though - getting battered at 70mph+ makes a fairing sooooo desirable.

Enjoy! - If I wanted another bike, it would have to be as a single man!

Really nice find there. Can I ask what muffler that is with the turn down? I would really like to get my hands on a couple of those.

Who made that seat? I'm looking for something just like that.

There is some rust and pitted chrome . The picture looks much better .It's not too bad really but I enjoy working on it let many here. After I finish the 80 special I will start on this bike .

I bought my other bike with those mufflers on it .They are very load on the highway and when I have the choke on. The old grumpy guy across the road hates when I start it up.

Found it on it's side today when I got home from work was scared for a bit there but no damage not even a scratch ,saved by my new cover I guess.

                          Hey Tinman,

That seat is most likely a TRAVELCADE made for JCW!!! IF yours has the OEM metal seat pan, then you can get another kit. IF it has the replacement plastic/fiberglass seat pan, I think you can still use the "kit" for the OEM pan since you already have a pan, but the ones with the Fiberglass seat pans are quite a bit more expensive! Make sure you order the correct SEAT!! the seat that TC shows is for a STANDARD, and may not fit the SPECIAL. Just be sure and read twice, order once....
